What is the PPF interest rate?
The government sets the PPF rate every quarter. The calculator starts at 7.1%; change it to the current rate.
How much can I invest?
Between ₹500 and ₹1.5 lakh in a financial year. PPF matures after 15 years and can be extended in blocks of 5 years.
How is it calculated?
Interest is compounded yearly. The calculator assumes you deposit the full yearly amount at the start of each year (before the 5th of April), which earns interest for the whole year.
Is PPF tax-free?
Deposits qualify for Section 80C under the old regime, and the interest and maturity amount are tax-free.
