Frequently asked questions

What is a SIP calculator?

A SIP calculator estimates the future value of fixed monthly investments in a mutual fund, based on an expected annual rate of return. It shows how much you invest, the estimated gains and the estimated total value.

How is the SIP return calculated?

The calculator uses the future value of a monthly annuity, assuming each instalment is invested at the start of the month and returns compound monthly at one-twelfth of the annual rate you enter.

What is the difference between SIP and one-time (lump sum) investment?

In a SIP you invest a fixed amount every month; in a one-time investment you invest the whole amount at once. SIPs spread your purchases over time, while a one-time investment is fully exposed to the market from day one.

Are the returns shown guaranteed?

No. Mutual fund returns depend on market performance and are not guaranteed. The figures are estimates for planning only; actual returns can be higher or lower, and can be negative.

Does the calculator include taxes and expense ratio?

No. The results are before capital gains tax and assume the rate you enter is already net of the fund’s expense ratio. Exit loads, if any, are also not included.

Disclaimer: This calculator is for illustration only. The results are estimates based on the rate of return you enter and do not indicate, promise or guarantee future returns. Actual returns vary with market conditions and are not guaranteed.
