    Frequently asked questions

    What is an expense ratio?

The expense ratio, or Total Expense Ratio (TER), is the yearly fee a mutual fund charges for managing your money, shown as a percentage of your investment.

Do I pay the expense ratio separately?

No. It is taken out of the fund's assets every day, so the NAV you see is already after expenses.

    Direct or regular plan?

Direct plans have a lower expense ratio than regular plans of the same fund because they do not pay distributor commission.

How is the cost worked out?

Your investment is grown at the return you enter, and again at that return minus the expense ratio. The difference is what the expenses cost you.
