Frequently asked questions
What is compound interest?
Compound interest is interest earned on both the original amount and the interest already added. Over time it grows much faster than simple interest.
What is the formula?
A = P × (1 + r ÷ n)^(n × t), where P is the principal, r the yearly rate, n the number of compounding periods a year and t the number of years.
Does compounding frequency matter?
Yes. The more often interest is compounded, the more you earn at the same yearly rate, although the difference between monthly and quarterly is small.
